Kohn Pedersen Fox
The Conrad Hotel is in New York City's Battery Park Neighborhood and adjacent to the World Trade Center Memorial site. Owned by Goldman Sachs, and next to their tower in lower Manhattan, the Conrad hotel project is a Kohn Pedersen Fox project. Pure Timber LLC fabricated the complicated curved walls for the elevator lobby which is next to the hotel lobby. Composed of 23 panels that make two 46' long walls, the elevator lobby looks like a tunnel of curved walnut. Current Status of the project is complete.
The project is built on cold molded decks, that are 3D veneered in walnut. Then solid walnut fins were added to the curved surface. 3D veneer is something Pure Timber is uniquely able to accomplish due to the "stretch" engineered into our compressed wood.
