Spirit of Tradition Rowing Dinghy: Deposit Only

Christo Mroz makes functional art you can padel (row boats), pedal (bikes) slide (downhill skis) or swing (Tennis). The concept is to build completely modern sports equipment in wood in a "Spirit of Tradition" style.

The Woven Diamond Dinghy has "Fluted" gunnels to make the grid shell of the hull into a very stiff but light weight rowing shell. You can add a motor if you wish, and if you do, consider the tiller style motor called the Temo 450 (not affiliated).

This dingy is 11 feet (3.4 meters) and the shell weighs about 28 pounds before skinning. It picks up a couple more pounds from the thick, almost indestructable, Dacron skin, and several coats of marine varnish.

Your deposit is for 1/3 of the purchase price. At $3,200 for the deposit, the total purchase price is $9,600. No tax if you are out of state (WA). Shipping is extra. A few options can be added such as seats, oars, floor, inlay or carving. We can discuss those options before or after you order.

After the deposit, you build will be sequenced and it will take about 3 months once started. If we have an open window for building time, it can start right away. If projects are already underway when you order, it can definitely add a few months, but it's important to get your order in the queue. Only up to 3 orders are accepted to prevent us from getting too long of a backlog. If we already have 3 boats under construction, this order page won't allow additional orders.

A second payment is due when the wood shell is complete (you will get many pictures). When skinning and varnishing is complete, the third payment will be due.

If you would like a different size dinghy the price will only change marginally. For instance, 8' will be about $1,000 less, 10' $500 less, 12' $1000 extra.
